Introduction
21 Savage is a rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He’s most known for some of his greatest songs, like “a lot” and “rockstar.”
Early Life
21 Savage was born in London, England, on October 22, 1992. He spent a few years in London until he moved with his mother to Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 7.
His early life was a difficult one as 21 Savage was often being involved in drug dealing, robberies, and gang activities. He was also kicked out of many of the schools in Atlanta before being placed in juvenile detention.
Career & Hustle
At the age of nineteen, 21 Savage had already become the father of two children.
This was a blessing for him as it ended up being his main drive to create a better life through his rapping and songwriting skills.
He hustled hard and started to gain the first recognition of his rapping and songwriting skills that pushed him to go even further on this path.
The Turning Point
His second big wake up call happened on his 21st birthday when he was shot 6 times during a drug deal that turned into an attempted robbery.
His best friend was tragically murdered in the incident as well, changing 21 Savage’s perspective on life.
In fact, these two instances led him to turn his life around and start heading towards success.
Success Knocks on 21 Savage’s Door
21 is one of the most well-known rappers around today. Eventually, his EP “savage mode” reached the Billboard top 200 in 2016, making him a superstar in this genre in very little time compared to the average rapper.
His second success occurred on Jan 5, 2019, where “I am > I was” was ranked #1 on Billboard, making even more noise than before and establishing him an authority in his musical genre.
Finally, other successes he enjoyed along his way include the collection of five top 10 charting hits on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
5 Tips to Succeed from 21 Savage
1. Save now, floss later.
One of the problems many of us have today, at least if you live in a first-world country, is trying to keep up with the Joneses.
We see our neighbor or someone we know to get a new car, and we have to get a new car (usually that is better than the one they just bought). Most times, we do this when we can’t even afford it in the first place, but we just want the status that it will bring.
By saving now, and not just blowing your money to show off today, you will create a better life for yourself in the future.
2. Ball on a Budget.
No matter where you are in life, you can still have some type of luxuries. We don’t always need the newest gadgets or whatever it may be. I’m even writing this on a 2014 MacBook Pro right now in 2020! Sure it might not be the newest or fastest MacBook, but it works perfectly for me.
Finding a way to enjoy your life while still saving and investing is the way to the top. So, whatever balling means to you, find a way to do it that still allows you to create the life you want to live!
3. Self-Education.
To me, this is one of the most important lessons from 21 that I am sharing with you here today. Self-education is so important today.
The old way of doing things was to go to school for 20 years of your life and follow this cookie-cutter society to be like everyone else and get a “good job.” Which is great if you want to be a doctor or lawyer etc.
However, most people today want to do something bigger, which is where self-education comes in.
You can literally go on Amazon right now and buy books written by millionaires, billionaires, fitness experts, web developers and so on, that are in the position you would like to be in and learn from their lives, rather than from a professor who has probably never done what you are going to school for!
4. Share your success/wealth.
As 21 Savage has grown on his own journey, he has found the importance of sharing his wealth with those he cares about.
He has even started a charity to help young children learn about financial literacy.
Sharing your success makes it more enjoyable. It may be fun to achieve your goals, but what fun is it without people to enjoy it with?
5. Plan for the future.
21 says to “think of the life you want to live and write it down, so you always know why you are working so hard.”
3 Quotes from 21 Savage
- “Giving back to where I grew up means a lot to me. Those kids need it, and I use to be one of those kids. Being able to see someone from where you are from making it and come back and genuinely give back will motivate these kids to do the same for their kids and the community.”
- “All I watch is war movies. The stories are touching. Just to see what they went through on both sides of the fence.”
- “People get a taste of success and lose their appetite.”
3 Lessons We Can Learn from 21 Savage
#1: You can turn your entire life around.
21 went from about a decade of illegal and gang activities to do a complete 180, completely transforming his life into one of success.
#2: Help those in your old situation.
He is now going back to where he grew up to give back to the children growing up in the area he grew up in Atlanta.
#3: Show gratitude
Being grateful for what we have going for us is an essential part of happiness. It helps us appreciate what we do have, even if we are having a bad day.
I have personally noticed the more I am grateful, the better happens in my own life.
Conclusion
21 is on the right track, leaving his old ways behind and becoming a better, changed person. From being a gang member to now being a rapper and working to help the people that used to be in similar situations as his, turn their life around and show them how to live successfully.
I am looking forward to seeing how the future looks for 21 Savage as he continues on his current path of success.
